As you think about building community this year, take time to reflect on your experiences to determine what you might offer as an individual in this community of learners, and as a teacher leading learners in your classroom.
Directions
Complete a SWOC Analysis about your journey from Year 1 to Year 2. Using the materials provided, write your responses (1 response per note).
Strengths: What did I do well in Year 1?
Weaknesses: Where would I like to improve?
Opportunities: What would I like to adjust, incorporate, and add in Year 2?
Consequences: What are the potential positive results if I make changes in Year 2?
At your own pace, move around the room and place your notes on the corresponding charts.
When you have finished your SWOC analysis, move to the chart that matches your number (as provided by your facilitator).
Work in teams to synthesize the information on you chart. Prepare to share your findings with the cohort.
What patterns did you identify?
What information did you read that surprised you?
Reflect/Put Into Practice
Which strengths and weaknesses were most significant in our group in Year 1?
What are our opportunities moving into Year 2?
How might we work as a community to support each other going forward?
Teacher Tip A SWOC analysis can be used to reflect, plan, and determine next steps for a task or project.
